PARNASO terá novo concessionário de serviços turísticos           PARNASO inaugura nova exposição sobre Von Martius na Sede Guapimirim

English version

Serra dos Órgãos National Park was created in 1939 to protect the exceptional landscape and the biodiversity of the mountains of Rio de Janeiro State. A total of 11000 hectares are protected, covering the counties of Teresópolis, Petrópolis, Magé and Guapimirim.

The Park protects the part of the Organ Mountains’ forests and the high lands of altitude ranging from 200m to 2263m, where lies Pedra do Sino, the highest point of Serra dos Órgãos. This great altitude variation has created unique environments of rich biodiversity. The National Park helps protect more than 264 species of birds, 58 species of mammals and a great number of endemic species, that is, those that only occur in this region.

Besides its beauty and the importance of its biodiversity, the National Park is one of Brazil’s best places for the practice of outdoor sports, such as hiking, rock climbing, rappel and others.
